Hungarian Nights—Mariner Pezza and Cheryl Kemeny’s romantic operetta set in Transylvania circa 1890- received its world premiere in 2010 and was further developed in New York at the New York Musical Festival in 2012.
Set in Europe in the late 19th century, the musical follows the young Hungarian-American Sándor Temesváry, who is charged with recruiting gypsy musicians for his boss, Buffalo Bill's "Wild West Show" in London. While in Hungary, he seeks the help of his Magyar relatives, including his cousin, Baroness Illona Temesváry de Andrássi.
However, Sándor's plans are derailed after he becomes embroiled in a romantic mystery involving Illona, the enigmatic Count Dáko Batthyány de Harakály, the gypsy prince Arpád and the gypsy princess Rozsika.
